Aware

An interactive digital projection in which visitors use a number pad to unlock changing visual and textual narratives about awareness.

A blue responsive projection forming an immersive architectural image field.

An interactive digital projection in which visitors use a number pad to unlock changing visual and textual narratives about awareness.

Aware places the visitor inside an evolving digital tapestry. Each numerical sequence changes the projected environment and contributes another action to the collective experience. The interface is deliberately simple, allowing attention to shift from operating technology toward noticing how individual choices alter a shared visual world.

Process and approach

01

Input

Visitors enter sequences through a number pad, using a familiar interface to communicate with the artwork.

02

Responsive system

Custom software maps each input to evolving graphic and textual content projected across the wall.

03

Collective image

Successive interactions accumulate into a shared experience, connecting personal choice with a larger digital environment.

Interactive system

Aware uses a deliberately familiar number-pad interface to control an immersive projection. Different sequences reveal changing graphic and textual states, making each visitor an active contributor to the work.

Perception and participation

The project examines awareness through the intersection of technology, art and human perception. Its evolving image field records successive actions, turning a private gesture into part of a shared spatial encounter.

From lecture notes to word cloud

Lecture-note PDFs are converted into text and divided into individual words. Repeated or meaningless terms are filtered before word embedding maps the remaining language into 300-dimensional vectors. Dimensionality reduction then prepares the data for a three-dimensional word cloud in Processing.

Infinity-mirror form

The original version places the interactive 3D word cloud inside an infinity-mirror box. Repeated reflections extend the generated language beyond the physical enclosure, turning an academic text database into an apparently limitless environment shaped by colour, scale and movement.
