Process and approach
01
Community collaboration
The proposal invites the Sham Shui Po vintage shop thegoodthebad&thecreative (雅俗共想) to contribute objects and knowledge. The shop’s collections, the artist’s film photographs of its environment and direct interaction with its staff connect museum display to a living local archive.
02
Three-part structure
The exhibition contains a timeline of Hong Kong toys and social change, a photographic portrait of the vintage shop, and a display of objects selected from its collection. Paper, tin, plastic, vehicle, film-related, doll and stuffed toys trace changing design and everyday life.
03
Proposed venue
Designed as a simulation for the Hong Kong Museum of Art, the exhibition combines explanatory boards, chronological displays, a promotional poster and a dedicated shop presentation. Its objective is to protect collective memory by encouraging visitors to recognise, discuss and inherit local material culture.
